At the twilight, a moon appeared in the sky;
Then it landed on earth to look at me.
Like a hawk stealing a bird at the time of prey;
That moon stole me and rushed back into the sky.
I looked at myself, I did not see me anymore;
For in that moon, my body turned as fine as soul.
The nine spheres disappeared in that moon;
The ship of my existence drowned in that sea.
Rumi
Everything that is fresh in me makes me a foreigner in their land. Everything that I see expands beyond what they want to perceive. Trying to explain, I am thrown in their seas of confusion. It is I who tells the story but it is the moon that appeared in me who lives it. The truth is: them, the moon and I, are all one.
"Hu" is a dance video installation that is currently in progress. It concentrates on the self and the other. It questions the intricate decisions of caring and letting go. It is inspired by the story of Hallac-i Mansur and the society around him.
The original duet premiered in Febrary 2002 in New York as "Truth".
Technically the choreography in the video installation concentrates on three themes: Direction, Connection and Focus. These themes are explored in 2 different ways: The relationship of the body parts with each other during movement and the relationship of the body to its environment and the other person.
As connections between different body parts and people are made, these influence the directions of movements. Direction focuses on the creation of shapes and rhythms. Direction and Focus explore the usage of body in relation to itself, the other person and the space.
